Even though our textbooks are available for free, they are not made for free. An enormous amount of professional work goes into writing and publishing any academic material, which is not all volunteered to us. Every donation, large or small, has a lasting impact on the accessibility of education everywhere, because you are not paying to give one student one textbook, you are giving all students a resource they can access for free, forever.

The Student

Textbooks are an increasingly expensive burden to bear for working college students. The Government Accountability Office reported in 2006 that students spent almost $900 a year on textbooks, which translates to roughly four weeks work at a minimum wage job. Add to that the price of tuition and the pressure of going to school full time, and college can have a huge strain on a student. Your donation helps us publish textbooks every student can understand and afford, no matter what, no matter where.

The Teacher

College instructors plan lessons around student needs and not every student learns in precisely the same way, or in the same amount of time. That is why the Dolan Foundation publishes our textbook supplements for free, because some concepts are better remembered through interactive demonstrations. We can express the complex problems in whichever way students and teachers find to be most straight forward. Your donation helps us produce aids and a whole range of supplements intended to make our textbooks easy to teach and easy to use.

The Community

We intend for our academic materials to be accessible to anyone, and though it might seem like an incredible aspiration, our mission has always been to serve as a resource for the common man with a particular interest. So whether it is returning to the subjects of your early education, or a small business brush up on accounting, the Dolan Foundation plans to be there for you. In time, our library of tools and textbooks will grow to fit the demand in life for a practical understanding of almost any subject.
